    2016

Happy New Years! Exactly like my post from last year, I am in Texas at Nick’s parent’s house. 2015 was my year of realizing that I want to work for myself and that I like having multiple jobs. I wore many hats this past year which included, wedding photographer, second shooter, photo assistant, digital tech, family photographer, photo editor, and business woman. Since I feel like I’m still trying to figure out what I want to really focus on, I am grateful that I have experienced so many different jobs. On a personal level, this year was great except for the loss of our bunny, Reuben. We got him in…

    Annual Trip to TX

It’s kind of weird to think that this year marks the third year that I’ve (we’ve) gone to Texas for Christmas. Tradition is a weird thing. Everyone grows up with them one way or another and whether they like them or not. I’m realizing that I’m beginning to create my own traditions and while they are predictable and safe, I find myself enjoying that comfort. The first year we went, I was a senior in college and we drove down like we are this year. We both enjoy driving but this year the motivation is more because his inspection sticker needs to get updated and less because we are thrilled…

    Claudia + Dave

If you’ve been following along with what I do, I’ve been second shooting weddings all summer and just shot my final wedding of the season last weekend on Halloween. I like weddings but am happy to have a break from them to focus on rebuilding my website, updating my portfolio, and all the other backend things. At the end of August, I finally had the opportunity to shoot a wedding where I was the lead photographer. It was so much fun and I love any excuse to escape to Vermont. Finally, I have had the time to sit down and build a wedding story for Claudia + Dave. Claudia and…

    Ice Cream and Cider

This morning we woke up to winter and my ankles were feeling it. By midday though it was comfortable Fall weather. Today we got breakfast in Montpellier at Down Home Kitchen, went on the Ben & Jerry’s factory tour, and did cider tasting at Citizen Cider. I was obsessed with the décor at Down Home Kitchen and if it were allowed, would have photographed everything in the place. The Ben & Jerry’s tour was pretty lack-lustre but it was only $4. Citizen Cider was awesome and we got a really great tasting board of five ciders. If I were to move to any other state in New England, it would…

    First Snow

THAT’S RIGHT. I saw my first snow of this year while driving to Vermont tonight. A part of me is excited because the winter always seems to slow things down. I’m not super pumped on having to shovel though but alas… These next couple of days Nick and I have taken his mom who is visiting, to Vermont to hang out and see the changing leafs. She’s been here since Wednesday but we’ve both been working every day she’s been here that it’s nice to finally get out of the house and do some traveling.

    It’s Been a While…

During wedding receptions when I’m away from city lights I love doing long exposures of the sky. This is from New Hampshire from this past weekend. …since I’ve updated the blog. One of my new years resolutions was to post at least once a week. I think I’ve averaged once a week since I posted a bunch back in May and June but it’s thinned out quite a bit as work has ramped up and my energy outside of work has been focused on other things. Fall is my favorite time of year and I’ve been doing my best to enjoy what’s going on in the present, especially the weather! September…

    It’s Fall!

It’s been a crazy couple months but I’m finally feeling like things are stabilizing. At the end of last month, Reuben died. I’m lucky that this was one of the most devastating things I’ve experienced but that knowledge definitely didn’t help the day of. When I got the news I thought the vet was joking. I left work early and cried the entire rest of the day. That weekend, I had a double-wedding-weekend where I assisted on Friday and then drove to Vermont for a wedding I was shooting as lead. It was a busy weekend which distracted me from the grieving. I think I still am grieving but it’s…

    Thoughts

This past week (more like month) has been so packed with work that only now have I had a chance to sit and relax/catch up on everything. The fact that I’m driving around everywhere doing different things feels like the start to being a freelancer. It isn’t so bad, despite the many complaints I can come up with. I like to keep track of how many miles I drive each month and right now I’m at 1,3000 miles for August. Still got a week and a half of the month left and a trip to VT for a wedding at the end of the month. Maybe I’ll hit 1,400 or…

    Sara + Chris

I have never enjoyed working on a holiday more than I did at Sara + Chris’s wedding this past July 4th. Their wedding was so fun and the décor was perfect for the holiday. I even got to see fireworks, which was more than I probably would have on my own time. Images shot under Dan Aguirre Photography!

    My First Airbnb Experience

These past two days I’ve been in downtown Boston using Airbnb for the first time. Why? Good question. Just kidding. Nick yesterday and today is taking the Bar at the Hynes Convention Center and came up with the idea that it would be good to stay in Boston those two nights so he could just get up and walk over. Finding any excuse to change things up and being supportive I was into it and began looking at all the hotels around. Everything in the area was either all filled up or at least $400/night. I then all of a sudden thought of Airbnb and all our problems went away.…
