    Breckenridge

One of the reasons we moved to Colorado was to be able to escape to the mountains for a quick trip. Earlier this month, we did just that and chose Breckenridge! Since we had work to do and couldn’t fully unplug, we brought our laptops and worked in a couple of the very cute coffee shops that Breckenridge has to offer. As a work break, we walked around the town and took in the fresh air and mountains. Frisco, the town right before Breckenridge, had more restaurants open than Breckenridge (since a lot of the restaurants in Breckenridge had closed for the winter and not yet re-opened for summer), so we ended up…

    Winter in April

Last month, Nick’s parent’s visited us and we took a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park for two days. We stayed in this adorable cabin for two nights, which really enabled us to explore and arrive early/stay late at the park. I had never stayed in a cabin in RMNP but after this past time, I will definitely do it again! There’s something so cozy and comforting about log cabins in the woods that I LOVE. I need to do it more often. The second night we stayed, there was a predicted snow storm so we hunkered down with beer and homemade-box-brownies and awaited. The following morning we went back to the…

    Houston

I love traveling so when I when I get to travel for work, I am beyond excited! Earlier this month, I went to Houston TX to help shoot a wedding. I had the afternoon the day before the wedding to myself so I took that opportunity to go into the city and explore! TripAdvisor and Yelp become my best friends whenever I’m somewhere new so with the help of those, I found the James Turrell exhibition at Rice University, a few coffee shops to hang out in, and killer BBQ.

    Seattle

A couple weeks ago we took a relatively spontaneous trip to Seattle. We went for the first time in November, but it was only for two days where we didn’t feel like we had enough time to really explore. This time around, we stayed for four days and planned ahead what we were going to do. For one of the days, we rented a car and drove around Olympic National Park and visited the Quinault Rainforest, Ruby Beach, and Hoh Rainforest. The other days we spent exploring the city and finding good food! One of my favorite parts of Seattle is how hilly it is and how as you walk around, you get…

    The Holidays in Texas

This past Christmas we did our annual trip to Texas to visit and stay with Nick’s parents. This was our fourth year doing so and we’ve been lucky to be able to have the time off to spend 2 weeks there every time. Our time there is spent hanging around the house in our PJ’s and eating lots of food. On one of our last days, we visited the Dallas Aquarium and Deep Ellum, a neighborhood of Dallas. For the New Year, we decided to come back to Denver so we could celebrate in our new home. New Years Eve we spent cooking chili and guacamole, watching Harry Potter, and then watching the…

    2017 New Years Resolutions

It’s always risky making resolutions publicly because if you don’t meet them you can feel silly about it. A lot of my resolutions this year are similar, not intentionally, to the ones I made for last year. For my work 2016 resolutions I on average kept up with all of them with the exception of the last one, scheduling a photoshoot once a month. For my personal resolutions I did 3 out of 5 of them. The two I didn’t do was floss every day and journal everyday. Like last year, I’ll divide them into two groupings: work and personal. Let’s go!!!   Work book 5 Colorado weddings blog 3x/month second shoot…

    2016 Reflection

To say it’s been a year of change would be an understatement. This year also happens to be a year of firsts for a lot of things. Let’s make a list!    Things I did this year: Shot 44 Weddings. Weddings took up about half of my year and all my weekends for six months. While lead shooting is certainly preferred, second shooting is fun since it lets me try new things, meet new people, and continue to evolve my craft.   Went to Europe for the first time. This past May, my parents rented an apartment and lived in Paris for the entire month. Of course, we had to…

    Two Days to Denver

Three weeks ago, we set out on our drive to Denver. Leaving at 10pm and driving through the night, we made it to our new apartment in two days, one night. Originally the plan was to have two nights on the road but we were making good time and wanted to just get there. The day we left, we still had a lot to do. The biggest challenge was our couch. Our first couch together…found on the side of the street. I don’t know how we got it into the apartment because getting it out was rough. We were thinking about the possibility of bringing the couch with us but…

    BOS > DEN

We are moving! I still keep wanting to pinch myself to make sure this is real. I don’t know where to begin talking about moving so I’ll start with how we came to this conclusion. Warning: long post, lots of words, thinking out loud.  Work disclaimer: I am still taking weddings for 2017 in Boston and will be flying back and forth next summer as I transition my business from Boston to Denver.  Why Now? It essentially started back when Nick was a 2L in law school and he kicked the idea of transferring to a Colorado law school and finishing his degree there. The seed had been planted but little…

    Virginia

This summer, Nick and I are going to our first weddings together as a couple. So aside from shooting however many I’m shooting, I have three to go to as a guest. This first one was at the end of June in Virginia for Nick’s brother. During our mini vacation, we visited the USS Wisconsin, which docks right next to the Nauticus Museum in Norfolk, VA. It was quite similar to when I visited the USS Massachusetts in Fall River. The morning of the wedding, which I’m not used to only showing up for the ceremony and reception, we drove to Virginia beach and walked around. It was super windy which was great. I…
